Prawn Tawa Fry Malabar Style /Nadan Chemmeen Varuthathu



INGREDIENTS:

    • Prawn / Chemmeen - 500 g (cleaned and deveined)
    • Coconut oil
    • Curry leaves

TO MARINATE:

    • Turmeric powder -¼ tsp
    • Chilli powder - 2-3 tsp
    • Pepper powder - 1 tsp
    • Garlic - 8-10 cloves
    • Tamarind water 
    • Salt

METHOD:

    1. Remove the shells and devein the prawns and clean them thoroughly.
    2. Mix all the ingredients mentioned under "to marinate" along with 2 tbsp of water to make a thick paste.
    3. Marinate the prawns properly with the above mix.
    4. In a pan, add  ¼  cup of water to the marinated prawns, and cook for 6-8 minutes. Cook till the water is evaporated completely.
    5. After the water is completely drained, add  3 tbsp of coconut oil into it along with some curry leaves.
    6. Fry the prawns until it turns brown in color.

TIPS:

  • You can vary the amount of chili and pepper powders to suit your spice level.
  • Always put curry leaves when you are frying prawns. It will give good taste.
