Pottika /thaloli/ peechinga olan (ridge gourd olan)


INGREDIENTS:

  • Ridge Gourd - 1
  • Green Chilly - 2 
  • Garlic - 3 cloves 
  • Coconut Oil - ½ tbs
  • Dry red Chilli -  2
  • Curry Leaves - 2 sprigs
  • Black mustard seeds - ½ tsp
  • Salt as required
  • Water 
                

 METHOD:

      1. In a mannchatti or kadai, add the chopped ridge gourd, curry leavessalt and green chilies (slit). 
      2. Now add ¾ to 1 cup water.
      3. Cover the mannchatti with a lid so that the water doesn't evaporate.
      4. The ridge gourd has to be cooked till its tender.
      5. There will be some water remaining in the pan and its fine.
      6. In a small pan, heat coconut oil.
      7. Splutter mustard seeds and fry dry red chilies and curry leaves.
      8. Add crushed garlic and saute well.
      9. Pour this into the mannchatti, mix well and serve hot!.
