Banana Stem Poriyal /Vazhai Thandu Poriyal
INGREDIENTS:
- Vazhai thandu / Vazhaipindi - 2 cups ( finely
chopped)
- Coconut oil - 2 tsp
- Mustard
seeds
- Dry red
chilly
- Curry leaves - 1
sprig
- Onion
- ½ small (chopped)
- Green chilies -
2 (slit)
- Turmeric powder- ¼ teaspoon
- Salt- to taste
METHOD:
- Cut the banana stem into thin roundels and remove the fiber while cutting using your fingers and finely chop them.
- In a pan, heat coconut oil.
- Splutter mustard seeds and fry dry red chilies and curry leaves.
- Add chopped onion and green chilies, cook till it becomes soft.
- Add salt and turmeric powder and saute well.
- Now add the chopped banana stem. Sprinkle little water and cover the pan with a lid and allow to cook for 10 -12 minutes on low flame.
- Serve hot as a side dish for rice.
TIPS:
- If you wish, You can also add coconut after the banana stem is cooked.
