INGREDIENTS:
- Chembu - 500 g
- Onion - ½ (chopped)
- Garlic - 3-5 cloves
- Green chilly - 3 (slit)
- Salt
- Turmeric powder - ¼ tsp
- Water
SEASONING:
- Coconut oil
- Mustard seeds
- Fennel seeds - ½ tsp
- Cumin seeds -½ tsp
- Curry leaves - 1 sprig
- Dry red chilies - 4
- Onion - ½ (chopped)
- Garlic - 2-3 cloves
GRIND:
- Coconut - ¼ cup
- Fennel seeds - 1 tsp
- Cumin seeds - ¼ tsp
- Onion - ¼
METHOD:
- Cut chembu into small pieces.
- In a cooker, add chembu along with onion, garlic, green chilly, salt, and turmeric powder. Add enough water
to barely cover the chembu.
- Cook on a medium flame for 2-3 whistles.
- Slightly
mash the chembu using a wooden spoon.
- In a pan, heat coconut oil
- Splutter mustard seeds and fry dry red chilies and curry leaves.
- Add cumin Seeds (Jeera) and fennel seeds to the pan and fry till it starts to crackle.
- Add onions and crushed garlic and saute well.
- In
a blender, grind the above mentioned "grind" without adding water and add them.
- Add mashed chembu and mix well. Add salt if needed.
- Close the lid and cook for about 2 minutes. Serve hot!
