Restaurant Style Dal Fry | Easy Dal Fry Recipe


INGREDIENTS:


    • Toor dal - 1/2 cup
    • Onion - 2
    • Tomato - 1
    • Green chilly - 6
    • Garlic - 7 cloves (chopped)
    • Ginger - small (chopped)
    • Turmeric powder - ½ tsp
    • Salt
    • Water 


FOR TEMPERING:


    • Coconut oil
    • Mustard seeds - ½ tsp
    • Cumin seeds - ½ tsp
    • Curry leaves - 2 sprig
    • Dry red chili - 2


METHOD:


    1. Wash Toor dal a few times until the water runs clear.
    2. Put all the ingredients into a cooker, mix well and pressure cook it for 3-4 whistles or till the dal cooks completely.
    3. In a small pan, heat coconut oil. Add Mustard Seeds and let them splutter.
    4. Add Cumin Seeds (Jeera)to the pan and fry till it starts to crackle.
    5. Now fry dry red chilies and curry leaves.
    6. Pour this into the cooker, mix well and serve hot.
    7.  Goes well with any of the Indian breads like chapati, naan, tandoori roti, etc. 



TIPS:


  • I have used toor dal only. You can use a mix of toor and masoor dal or use a combination of toor, moong and masoor dal too.
  • You can also use ghee in place of coconut oil.
