Restaurant Style Dal Fry | Easy Dal Fry Recipe
INGREDIENTS:
- Toor dal - 1/2 cup
- Onion - 2
- Tomato - 1
- Green chilly - 6
- Garlic - 7 cloves (chopped)
- Ginger - small (chopped)
- Turmeric powder - ½ tsp
- Salt
- Water
FOR TEMPERING:
- Coconut oil
- Mustard seeds - ½ tsp
- Cumin seeds - ½ tsp
- Curry leaves - 2 sprig
- Dry red chili - 2
METHOD:
- Wash Toor dal a few times until the water runs clear.
- Put
all the ingredients into a cooker, mix well and pressure cook it for 3-4 whistles or till the dal cooks completely.
- In a small pan, heat coconut oil. Add Mustard Seeds and let them
splutter.
- Add Cumin Seeds (Jeera)to the pan and fry till it starts to crackle.
- Now fry dry red chilies and curry leaves.
- Pour this into the cooker, mix well and serve hot.
- Goes well with any of the Indian breads like chapati, naan, tandoori roti, etc.
TIPS:
- I have used toor dal only. You can use a mix of toor and masoor dal or use a combination of toor, moong and masoor dal too.
- You can also use ghee in place of coconut oil.
