INGREDIENTS:
FOR PIZZA DOUGH:
- Maida - 1 ½ cup
- Sugar - 2 tbsp
- Salt - ½ tsp
- Yeast - ½ tbsp
- Warm water
FOR TOPPINGS:
- Pizza sauce - 2 tbsp
- Mozzarella cheese - ½ cup
- Onion - ¼ cup
- Red Capsicum - ¼ cup
- Green Capsicum - ¼ cup
- Sliced Green olives
- Boiled sweet corn
- Tomato
- Oregano
- Chilli flakes
METHOD:
MAKING PIZZA DOUGH:
- In a small bowl, add warm water, sugar, and dry yeast. Give a quick mix.
- Allow it to rest for 5 minutes or till it becomes frothy
- In a large mixing bowl, add maida, salt, oil, and the frothy yeast mixture.
- Add water as required.
- Knead the dough into a smooth, springy ball.
- Apply some oil all over the dough and cover it with a wet cloth or lid.
- Allow the dough to rise and double in size.
- It may take anywhere from 2 to 3 hours depending on the weather condition.
ASSEMBLING AND MAKING VEG PIZZA:
i. PIZZA ON TAWA:
- With a roller, gently roll to a slightly thin round pizza (1/2 inch thickness).
- Prick the pizza base with a fork.
- keep a Tava / wide pan / lid / Kadai.
- On top of that place a heavy bottom pan.
- Heat the pan and brush some oil.
- Transfer the pizza base to the hot pan.
- Close and cook for about 3-4 minutes on low flame.
- Flip it to the other side.
- Now apply some pizza sauce.
- Add shredded mozzarella cheese.
- To that add onions, red capsicum, green capsicum, sweetcorn, green olives, and tomato.
- Add shredded mozzarella cheese again.
- Sprinkle a pinch of oregano and chili flakes.
- Drizzle a drop of oil on the top and edges of the pizza. (optional)
- Cover with a lid and let the pizza cook on a low flame or sim.
- Cook veg pizza till the base becomes golden and crisp and the cheese has melted. (10- 15 minutes)
- You can also sprinkle red chili flakes, Oregano on top of the pizza while serving.
ii. PIZZA ON KADAI:
- Take a Kadai and keep it on low flame .cover it and preheat it for 5 mins. (you can spread around 1 or 2 cups of sand or salt at the bottom of the Kadai.)
- Meanwhile, with a roller, gently roll to a slightly thin round pizza (1/2 inch thickness).
- Prick the pizza base with a fork.
- Take baking tray/cake tin / an aluminum lid.
- Transfer the pizza base to it.
- Apply some pizza sauce.
- Add shredded mozzarella cheese.
- To that add onions, red capsicum, green capsicum, sweetcorn, green olives, and tomato.
- Add shredded mozzarella cheese again.
- Sprinkle a pinch of oregano and chili flakes.
- Place a stand / table-ring inside the hot pan in the center.[ be careful as the kadai is hot ].
- Now place the tray with the pizza.
- The edge of the tray should not touch the edge of the pan. There should be a gap between the pan and the tray.
- Cover with a lid and let the pizza cook on a medium flame.
- Cook veg pizza till the base becomes golden and crisp and the cheese has melted. (10- 15 minutes).
- You can also sprinkle red chili flakes, Oregano on top of the pizza while serving.
TIPS:
- If you want to make pizza sauce at home. Refer Homemade Pizza Sauce.
- You can also bake in the oven for 10-15 minutes at 200 degrees c till the base becomes golden brown and the cheese on top melts and gets browned.
- Leftover pizza dough can be refrigerated or frozen. If frozen, it stays well for a month.
- You can also use a readymade pizza base.
